Cinderella Campground Review — Grand Island, NY

The Full Review

We stayed at Cinderella after the Grand Island KOA because we wanted to compare. The answer is simple: KOA is better in every measurable way except price. Cinderella is where you stay when you realize that you are going to spend all your time at the Falls anyway and just need somewhere to plug in at night.

The campground shares a property with a motel, which gives it a slightly odd feel. RVs and motel guests share the same parking area and facilities. It works, but it is not winning any atmosphere awards.

Site & Setup 10/20

Sites are gravel, tightly packed, and mostly level enough but some require significant shimming. Our pull-through was barely long enough for our rig, and we were close enough to our neighbor that we could have passed the ketchup without standing up. There is minimal shade. Hookups worked, but the pedestal looked like it had survived a couple of harsh Buffalo winters. Water pressure was adequate. Sewer hookups are at some sites but not all, so confirm when booking.

This is parking-lot camping. If you have done Walmart overnights, the vibe is similar but with hookups and a bathhouse.

Connectivity 12/20

Cell signal is good here since Grand Island is close to Buffalo metro towers. T-Mobile had four bars of 5G, and the park Wi-Fi was usable but slow. Starlink is overkill given the cell coverage. Workability is decent if you rely on cellular, but the park Wi-Fi alone would not support a video call.

Offspring & Family 6/15

There is a small, older pool that was open during our July visit. It is not heated and not large. The playground equipment is minimal and dated. Honestly, our kids spent zero time using campground amenities because we were at the Falls all day. For families who plan to hang around the campground, this is a significant downgrade from the KOA. Safety is okay. The property is well-lit and the motel adds some ambient security, but there is no gate or controlled access.

Unity & Community 6/10

The office staff was cordial but not particularly engaged. There were no organized activities or community events. Neighbors were a mix of RVers and motel guests. It felt transactional, which is fine for what it is. You are not coming here to make lifelong friends. You are coming here because it is $50 a night instead of $105.

Territory & Location 14/15

The location is the saving grace. Four miles to the Falls, close to all the Grand Island and Buffalo amenities. Tops supermarket is three miles away. You are on the same island as the KOA with the same access to everything. The scenery from the campground itself is forgettable, but you are 15 minutes from one of the most spectacular natural sights in North America, so who cares.

Essentials & Facilities 5/10

The bathhouse needs work. It was clean enough but the fixtures are old, the lighting is dim, and the shower pressure was inconsistent. Laundry facilities exist but the machines are coin-operated and temperamental. There is no camp store, but there is a vending machine and the motel office sells basics like ice and firewood.

Dollars & Value 8/10

This is Cinderella’s pitch: the price. We paid about $55 per night for a full hookup pull-through in peak July. That is roughly half what the KOA charges and a third of what Niagara Falls area hotels cost. For two nights of parking while you see the Falls, eat wings, and explore the area, it is perfectly adequate. You are trading comfort for savings, and that is a valid choice.
