Welcome to the Familia
If you're reading this, you're officially part of our little corner of the internet where we document the beautiful chaos of full-time RV life with three kids, two businesses, and one big dream of financial independence.
We're the Almontes — Elvio, Melissa, Lily, Rose, and Liam — and we traded a house for a Class A motorhome, a mortgage for a Thousand Trails membership, and "normal" for whatever this is. We homeschool on the road, work remotely from campgrounds, and chase sunsets instead of promotions.
What We've Been Up To
We just dropped 8 campground reviews using our brand new SCOUTED rating system — our honest, family-tested rubric for scoring every park we stay at. Here are the highlights:
- 🏆 TT Orlando — 83/100, our Disney base camp and three-time repeat. Absolutely Worth It.
- 🌴 Fiesta Key — 78/100, oceanside in the Florida Keys. Worth every penny.
- 🐄 Gettysburg Farm — 80/100, a working farm with goats, pancakes, and happy kids.
- 🐊 Crystal Isles — 76/100, manatees as neighbors. Enough said.
- 🍫 TT Hershey — 70/100, chocolate town with a side of train noise.
- 🐜 Lake Magic — 60/100, our honest "Passed the Time" review. Fire ants won this round.
What's Next
We're currently at Crystal Isles in Central Florida before heading north through the Carolinas and into Pennsylvania for the summer. Our route takes us through Space Coast, Lake Gaston, PA Dutch Country, the Catskills, Lake George, and back to Hershey and Gettysburg.
Expect more campground reviews, homeschool road stories, FIRE updates, and the occasional recipe that survives an RV kitchen.
